Maintenance & Care

Leather Products

* All leather furniture should be protected from exposure to sunlight and heat, these elements may cause the leather to fade or lose its soft feel.

* It is important to clean leather periodically with a dry cloth to remove residual dust and prevent dirt build-up.

* Do not use harsh cleaners or solvents, as they can abrade the finish or top coat of the leather. A leather protection cream can be used to alleviate associated issues with the leather drying or cracking.

* Stretch marks, scars, and insect bites are considered a natural characteristic of leather and are part of the unique nature of the product. These are not considered to be defects and are not covered under warranty.

* Most liquids will be initially repelled by the leather but if left on the surface for an extended period of time they will be absorbed into the leather. If a liquid is spilled on the surface it is best to blot the liquid immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth.

* Spills such as butter, oil or grease should be wiped with a clean, dry cloth immediately, the spot should then dissipate into the leather in a short period of time.

* For any stubborn stains or spills, it is best to use a lightly dampened cloth with warm water to blot at the stain to remove it. If this fails to work, mix a solution of water with mild soap (no detergent), then blot to remove the stain. Bot again with a dry cloth. Do not scrub at the stain or spill.

Suede & Velvet Products

* Our suede and velvet fabrics are made of a polyester composition, as polyester fibres are durable and easy to maintain. These types of fabrics are recommended for hardwearing environments.

* The fabric requires regular soft brushing with the nap of the fabric in order to keep its best shape.

* Fabrics such as velvet may change colour when exposed to light coming from different directions. This is not considered a defect, rather, it is just the nature of the fabric, and adds a unique touch to your piece.

* For any liquid based spills on suede or velvet, we recommend using a soft, absorbent towel to blot the stain. Do not rub, as this may cause pilling. If required, use a slightly damp cloth to assist in removing the stain. It is important not to apply too much water to the velvet, as the velvet needs to dry quickly to avoid any residual watermarks.

* For stubborn or hard to remove stains, you can use an upholstery cleaner. We recommend testing these cleaners on a discrete area before use. Carefully apply the cleaner to the fabric with a soft sponge, and ensure to leave the fabrics’ pile undisturbed. After cleaning, be sure to vacuum and brush the pile back into place to keep the fabric looking its best.

Fabric Products

* We recommend vacuuming regularly with a soft upholstery attachment. Dirt combined with body moisture can produce a grimy discolouration to the fabric. Vacuuming will also remove grit that can wear away the fabric.

* We recommend using a professional dry cleaning service at least once a year.

* Do not place the fabric in direct sunlight or near heaters, as this can fade and damage the fabric. Use curtains or blinds to protect your furniture from direct sunlight through windows.

* To clean spills, immediately dab with absorbent paper or white, non-abrasive cloth, and then remove the stain. Wash only using colourless, mild soapsuds (no detergent).

* Temporary pilling can happen with some fabrics. This is not considered a fault and can be removed with a pill removal machine. Pilling is a characteristic of many upholstered fabrics and is a result of excess fibre coming off the surface of the material. The release of excess fibre results in small balls or ‘pills’ forming on the surface of the material. This condition is not covered under warranty by the fabric mills, as it is not a defect. It is simply excess material being released.

*The pilling will persist until the excess fibre is gone, and then it will cease. To remove the pills, use a pill removal machine or a battery-operated shaver to lightly shave the fabric and restore the look of the surface. This may need to be done 3 to 4 times, but pilling on the surface will begin to diminish, and ultimately stop over time.

PU Leather Products

* PU leather is artificial leather polymer made of polyurethane, and is 100% vegan. It’s long lasting and hardwearing when compared to natural leather.

* Most liquids will be repelled by the PU leather. Dyed clothing can transfer onto light colours of PU leather. If you notice colour transference, wipe the stain immediately, as it can penetrate the surface if left.

* For regular cleaning, use a dry cloth or vacuum to remove loose particles of dirt and food. Clean the surface with warm water and mild washing up liquid (no harsh detergents) using a non-abrasive cloth. Wring out excess water from the cloth and wipe over. Follow up by drying the surface with a soft, microfibre cloth. This will stop every day marks from building up.

* To remove stains, mix a tablespoon of mild detergent with water in a spray bottle and shake vigorously. Spray the mixture onto a clean towel or cloth and wipe the stain. Gently scrub the stain if required.

* For stubborn stains like ink or dye, mix equal parts of water with vinegar or alcohol. Try the mixture on a discrete area of the PU leather to ensure it won’t discolour the surface. If no discolouration occurs, dip the cloth into the mixture and blot the stain. Repeat using a clean area of the cloth.

Ethnicraft Products

Wood, like any other natural and porous material, continues to absorb and release humidity throughout its life. Although Ethnicraft designs furniture that adapts well to its environment, some cracking or movement may occur. This is a normal response to the furniture's environment.

* To prevent colour differences, do not place furniture in direct sunlight, and move objects placed on the furniture from time to time.

* We recommend that any spills be removed immediately to prevent staining.

* Use placemats and pot holders to prevent hot and cold items from marking the furniture.

* When cleaning the surface, always work in the direction of the wood grain.

* For regular dusting, use a dry cloth. For cleaning or in case of a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap. Do not use soap containing detergent or other chemicals. Dry with a soft, clean cloth to prevent spotting.

Solid Wood - Oiled Products

* Wood is a natural and porous material, and continues to absorb and release humidity throughout its life through expanding and contracting.

* Variations in wood grain, texture and colour, knots and other natural occurring characteristics are considered inherent to natural timber furniture.

* Do not place hot or cold items directly on the surface. We recommend using placemats, tablecloths, pot holders and the like. Do not place your timber furniture in direct sunlight, as this can change the colour of the timber. Avoid exposure to the elements and keep the timber away from air-conditioners and heaters.

* For regular dusting, use a slightly damp cloth or a clean duster. Move the cloth in the direction fo the wood grain.

* To clean, use a mixture of mild natural soap and water. Gently dip the cloth into the mixture and wipe down the surface in the direction of the wood grain. Dry immediately with a clean, dry, non-abrasive cloth. Always dust your timber furniture prior to cleaning.

* We recommend cleaning all spills immediately to prevent staining the timber.

* Superficial scratches or stubborn stains can be removed with extra fine sandpaper. Always clean prior to sanding. To sand the table, rub gently in the direction of the woodgrain. This may remove the coating, depending on the finish of your timber furniture. The coating can be renewed with a product such as Osmo Top Oil Natural (3068). Please note this may change the colour of your timber.

Solid Wood - Varnished & Lacquered Products

* Wood is a natural and porous material, and continues to absorb and release humidity throughout its life through expanding and contracting.

* Variations in wood grain, texture and colour, knots and other natural occurring characteristics are considered inherent to natural timber furniture.

* Do not place hot or cold items directly on the surface. We recommend using placemats, tablecloths,
pot holders and the like. Do not place your timber furniture in direct sunlight, as this can change the colour of the timber. Avoid exposure to the elements, excessive damp or humid conditions, and keep
the timber away from air-conditioners and heaters.

* Always remove stains immediately, with a blotting action using a clean, damp white cloth.

* For regular dusting, use a slightly damp cloth or a clean duster. Move the cloth in the direction of the wood grain.

* To clean, use a mixture of mild ph-neutral soap and clean water. Gently dip the cloth into the mixture and wipe down the surface in the direction of of the wood grain. Dry immediately with a clean, dry,
non-abrasive cloth. Always dust your timber furniture prior to cleaning. If using cleaning detergents, always test them first in a concealed spot.

* Do not use cleaners or cleaning agents that are abrasive, caustic or acidic, such as bleach or ammonia, as these may affect the colour of the timber or polyurethane.

Wood Veneer Products

* Wood veneer is a very fine slice of real timber, produced by slicing a single piece of timber. It produces less waste than solid timber furniture, which is sawn instead of cut.

* As veneer is still natural wood, it retains the unique characteristics and properties of the wood – each tree is unique, and no two pieces of veneer will be identical. Variations in wood grain, texture and colour, knots and other natural occurring characteristics are considered inherent to natural timber furniture.

* Do not place hot or cold items directly on the surface. We recommend using placemats, tablecloths, pot holders and the like.

* Use a clean, soft cloth wrung out in lukewarm water, followed by wiping off with a dry cloth. Never use detergents. The veneered surface has an open structure – be careful not to use too much water. Any spilt liquid should be removed immediately.

Dbodhi Reclaimed Teak Products

*dBodhi’s reclaimed teak wood is sourced from century-old houses from remote villages in East Java,
before being repurposed and crafted into new pieces of furniture. The rustic wood comes from mature trees over sixty years old and is of very high quality. Repurposing the wood is an elaborate process.

*Craftsmen receive the wooden slats in all sizes and conditions, often with original nails and paint still in place. After hand sorting the wood, they manually sand and rework each piece. Packed with history, the wood is full of character, with unique and elegant textures that can never be reproduced or imitated by newly cut wood. Through its re-use, the reclaimed teak not only delivers history and character to the furniture, it also reduces environmental impact.

*Do not place hot or cold items directly on the surface. We recommend using placemats, tablecloths, pot holders and the like. Do not place your timber furniture in direct sunlight, as this can change the colour of the timber. Avoid exposure to the elements and keep the timber away from air-conditioners and heaters.

*We recommend sealing your new dBodhi piece with Sure Seal Timber Seal.

*For regular dusting, use a slightly damp cloth or a clean duster. Move the cloth in the direction fo the .wood grain. The moisture will pull up the dust rather than spreading it around to a different spot.

*To clean, use a mixture of mild natural soap and water. Gently dip the cloth into the mixture and wipe down the surface in the direction of of the wood grain. Never apply water directly to wood. Dry immediately with a clean, dry, non-abrasive cloth. Always dust your timber furniture prior to cleaning.

*We recommend cleaning all spills immediately to prevent staining the timber.

Cane Products

* Cane is a durable and lightweight material made from the skins of rattan vines.

* We recommend keeping your cane furniture away from extreme heat or low humidity, as these conditions can cause the cane to dry out and become brittle.

* Dust regularly with a soft cloth, a soft brush, or by vacuuming with the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner. Use a soft bristled toothbrush to clean in between the cane.

* To clean, use a damp cloth, and apply a small amount of linseed oil to nourish the rattan webbing.

Glass Products

* Glass is a useful material, and can withstand most household cleaning agents.

* Whilst glass is heat-resistant, we do not recommend placing hot items, such as tea lights, pots or other hot objects, directly on the surface.

* Glass is not resistant to scratches or chips. We do not recommend dragging anything across the surface, or abutting the glass against a hard or abrasive surface.

* We recommend wiping your glass table top with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. For mirrored surfaces, these can be cleaned with a lint-free cloth. To remove stubborn marks or stains, you can use a household glass cleaning product such as Windex.

Laminate & Linoleum Products

* HPL (high pressure laminate) is a man-made material created when paper is melded with resin, and pressed together under high pressure to create a surface that is incredibly durable. HPL can be made in a variety of colours. The surface is not completely smooth, but appears slightly rugged.

* Nano laminate is a further development of HPL, and is the result of nano technology used to create a new generation of acrylic resin, which is hardened in an electronic process. The end result is a surface that appears completely smooth and is repellant to fingerprints, chips, marks and scratches.

* Linoleum is another man-made material, manufactured by a combination of raw materials, all of which are sourced from nature. These include basic ingredients such as wood flour, resin, linseed oil and jute. It results in a very robust end product that appears soft to the touch.

HPL

* For daily care of HPL furniture, a soft cloth dampened in cold or lukewarm water can be used with a few drops of detergent to remove any spills. Do not use abrasive cleaning products, such as steel wool or chemicals with physical exfoliants, as these may scratch the surface.

*A specialty laminate cleaner can also be used to freshen the appearance of the surface, which can be applied and left on for several minutes, then removed with a damp cloth and dried.

Nano Laminate

* Nano laminate can be cared for with the use of a damp, microfibre cloth and a few drops of light detergent. A melamine sponge or Magic Eraser can also be used to quickly and effectively remove any unwanted marks. If stubborn stains persist, acetone can be used on the surface to aid in removal.

*If small scratches appear, these can be removed by placing a moist piece of paper towel on the surface and using a hot iron on the area for no longer than 10 seconds. Any surface scratches should disperse to the surface.

Linoleum

* Daily care of linoleum surfaces can be carried out with a moist cloth and natural detergent. For larger areas and overall maintenance, a linoleum care product such as PH-7 can be used to restore the surface.

Marble & Travertine Products

* Marble and travertine is a natural and porous stone. Each piece of marble is unique, and has inherent qualities that will vary from piece to piece, including veining, tint, and density.

* Minor pitting and/or surface fissures are a normal characteristic of natural stone, and are not considered defects. Natural stone is also not scratch proof – small nicks and/or scratches are considered general wear and tear, and are not covered under warranty.

* The surface of your new natural stone product should not come into contact with hot and/or moist/wet containers or materials. It is recommended to use coasters, placemats and the like to avoid any marks or stains from heat and/or liquids.

* For regular dusting, use a dry cloth. For cleaning or in case of a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap.

* Due to the porous nature of marble and travertine, we recommend cleaning any spills promptly to avoid penetration of the stain into the surface. Wash the surface in a small, overlapping, sweeping motion, then dry with a soft, clean cloth to prevent spotting.

* Do not let any spills sit on the surface, as this will permanently mark the stone. Clean any acidic liquids, such as juice or wine, immediately.

* Avoid any abrasive cleaners or cleaners with acidic properties, such as detergents, as these will damage the surface of the natural stone.

Terrazzo Products

* Terrazzo is a composite material, made of cement or epoxy with chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass, shell or other suitable materials. It is then polished to a smooth texture. Variations in colour, texture and chips are an inherent feature, and are not considered a defect.

* Terrazzo is not scratch proof – small nicks and/or scratches are considered general wear and tear, and are not covered under warranty. Avoid dragging items across the surface.

* Use a soft cloth for regular dusting and cleaning. Avoid using abrasive or acidic cleaners, such as detergents, as these can be harmful to the terrazzo.

* Remove any stains immediately, as these can penetrate the surface of the terrazzo. Gently blot the stain with a soft cloth, then clean.

* For stubborn stains, use a specialty terrazzo cleaner.

Brass Products

* Brass is an alloy material, made of copper and zinc. It tends to oxidize quickly when exposed to
air, water, skin oils and other elements. We recommend protecting your brass surface by always
using coasters and placemats for hot and/or cold drinks or food items.

* Before cleaning, check if your brass is solid brass, or just brass-plated. To check, you can hold a
magnet against the brass – if it sticks, the item is just brass-plated, not solid brass. Some brass
items come lacquered, while others are left raw.

* Lacquered brass will generally have a thin, shiny coating, designed to prevent tarnishing. If your
brass has tarnished, it is most likely raw. The cleaning steps below apply to raw brass and brassplated items.

Cleaning: Brass-Plated
To clean your brass-plated item, use a mix of natural soap and warm water, and simply wipe your
furniture using a wet rag. Keep cleaning until your item is shiny and sparkly again, then use a dry
cloth to dry. Make sure you dry the entire surface with your cloth so you don’t leave any wet spots.

Cleaning: Solid Brass
To remove discoloration from solid brass, use a polish designed specifically for brass. Before
polishing, wash the brass with a mix of natural soap and warm water. Use a soft, damp cloth to
apply the soapy water, and clean until all debris, dust, and dirt are gone. Once dry, apply the brass
polish according to the instructions on the bottle, using a soft cleaning cloth.

Teak Outdoor Products

If you wish to retain the golden colour, the furniture must be treated with teak sealant before use and on a regular basis. How often treatment is needed depends on the climate and whether the furniture is placed in a sheltered position, for example under a roof. As a general rule, teak table tops should be cleaned and treated at least a couple of times a year.

* If your teak furniture becomes silvery-grey or black on the surface, it can be cleaned with a recommended teak cleaner. After cleaning and rinsing thoroughly with water, allow the furniture to dry. When the furniture is completely dry, it is ready to be treated with teak sealant. If the furniture has been exposed to the elements over an extended period of time and developed patina, it may be necessary to sand it down before cleaning and treating it.

Tex Outdoor Products

* Because the product is used outdoor over extended periods of time, regular cleaning with a soft brush and soapy water is important. This ensures the removal of superficial soil and debris, such as leaves, berries, pollen and bird droppings, before they have a chance to build up and become more difficult to remove.

* It is important to place your cushions in an upright position when not in use. This ensures optimum drainage, thereby minimising the risk of mould and mildew. The anti-bacterial protection in the cushion core is most effective with correct drainage of the cushion.

* Please note, that despite the anti-bacterial protection, mildew can still form between the inner and outer covers, if the cushion is not properly drained or cleaned. In case of food or drink spills, wash the spot immediately with warm soapy water and allow the cushion to dry in an upright position. White Cane-line Tex®: White furniture is more delicate and prone to staining and thus requires more regular cleaning.

Weave Outdoor Products

Cane-line Weave® has been developed to withstand climate conditions all over the world and the material will retain its colour and shape for many years. All products are hand-woven with the Cane-line Weave® fibre, which can vary slightly in colour, creating a nice contrast in the surface of the weave. This gives the furniture a unique, natural and exclusive look.

* Because the product is used outdoors over extended periods of time, regular cleaning with a soft brush and soapy water is important. This ensures the removal of superficial soil and debris, such as leaves, berries, pollen and bird droppings, before they have a chance to build up and become more difficult to remove.

* Alternatively, the product can be cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner set at moderate.

HPL Outdoor Products

Clean the table top with a moist microfibre cloth. Most stains can be removed with water and ordinary all-purpose cleaner or dishwashing detergent.

* For more stubborn stains, a dab of concentrated detergent can be effective.

* We also recommend cleaning the entire table thoroughly 2-3 times a year.

* Never use abrasive or highly aggressive cleaning products, such as steel wool, scouring powder or other polishes (for home use), to clean laminate table tops, as they can scratch the surface and cause irreparable damage to your table top.

Glass Outdoor Products

It is important to handle your table top with care and avoid setting it down hard or putting strain on the edges after the packaging has been removed.

*Glass table tops should always be handled by two people.

* These tables tops generally requires only a minimum of maintenance. Wipe it down after use with a moist microfibre cloth and mild detergent.

* Placing objects on the table top, such as a potted plant, can cause scratches or lime deposits. Lime deposits can be removed with a mild vinegar solution.

* Moving/pushing things with rough edges across the table can cause scratches that cannot be removed.

Ceramic Outdoor Products

It is important to handle your table top with care and avoid setting it down hard or putting strain on the edges after the packaging has been removed.

* Ceramic table tops should always be handled by two people and always carried in a vertical position after the packaging has been removed.

* NOTE! Carrying the table top horizontally can cause cracks to form in the middle of the table top.

* Clean the table top with a microfibre cloth.

* Most stains can be removed with water and ordinary, gentle dishwashing detergent. For more stubborn stains, a dab of concentrated detergent can be effective.

* Always wipe the table of afterwards with a clean cloth.

* We recommend carefully cleaning the table at least 2-3 times a year.

Concrete Products

Our concrete products are made from fibre reinforced natural concrete (FRC), comprised of natural materials, granite stone powder, Portland cement, nylon net and water. Much like any natural material, such as wood or stone, concrete is a porous material. We have sealed your concrete with a wax sealer that will provide active protection against staining.

* Clean your concrete product using mild soap (such as dish soap) and water. Do not use heavy abrasive, bleach-based, or ammoniated cleaners. Use of such cleaners will wear down the wax protection and result in reduced stain-resistance. We do not recommend use of most natural cleansers (which are often citrus based), as the cleaning agent is typically highly acidic, and can damage most natural materials.

* Re-wax periodically. Waxing your product regularly is a quick and easy process that will provide additional protection against staining. Wax once within 2 months of installation, and every 3 to 6 months thereafter, depending on use and location. Each time after waxing, avoid placing anything on the surface of the table for 6 to 12 hours, as this will ensure the wax evenly penetrates the material. If the product is placed outside, wax it well before winter, and cover and raise it off the ground. We recommend a paraffin based stone floor wax.

* When your outdoor concrete product is not in active use, we recommend taking the extra step of covering it up. This simple precaution ensures enhanced protection against the elements, preserving its quality and aesthetic appeal over time.
