Description
Extending the Kin series into a more generous, elongated format, the Kin Duo Table pairs an oval tabletop with two smaller oval bases that echo its outline. Their repetition brings balance and rhythm to the wider composition, while the open space between them lends visual lightness.
Across the Kin series, British designer John Astbury explores repetition and relation through a recurring motif shared by the tabletops and pedestal bases. A gently inward-curving edge gives each tabletop a smooth, continuous profile. From the single pedestal of the Coffee and Side Tables to the paired bases of Kin Duo, shifts in scale, orientation and proportion give each table a distinct presence while maintaining a clear family resemblance.
Across the series, the tables are available in stained black, dark brown and light oak. The Kin Side Table is also offered in high-gloss burnt orange lacquer, introducing a more expressive accent to the collection.
Kin’s soft curves begin with the construction of its pedestal base. Sections are pressed into shape, then joined to form the rounded outline. The surfaces and joints are carefully sanded by hand, smoothing the transitions between the individual sections.
